First Bohol Coastal-wide Dive Forum

  The Province of Bohol through the Bohol Tourism Office conducted of Bohol’s first ever “Coastal-wide Dive Forum” on August 11, 2017 at Bohol Plaza Resort, Dayo Hill, Dauis, Bohol. The forum was in partnership with the Bohol Provincial Tourism Council (PTC), Inc. and the Panglao Association of Dive Operators (PADO) has taken new steps in its efforts for sustainable tourism development. LGU environment and tourism officers, representatives of Municipal and Provincial Tourism Councils, headed by Atty. Lucas M. Nunag, scientists, national agency representatives from the Department of Tourism, Department of  Environment and Natural Resources, Philippine Coast Guard, PNP Tourist Police and employees of the provincial government attended the forum. Also present and facilitated the workshop, were private sector stakeholders many of whom are dive operators all over the province, hotel and resort owners, business groups and individuals advocates for Bohol’s sustainable environment and inclusivity of business practices. Jo Cabarrus, Head of the Bohol Tourism Office welcomed the participants and gave the forum’s statement of purpose. Atty. Mitchell John Boiser, Acting Provincial Administrator and the Provincial Legal Officer in behalf of the Governor speaks of the forum as timely, considering that the diving industry in our province is flourishing with the influx of tourists who come to Bohol to experience one of the best dive sites in the country. Finalists of the Asian Hospital Management Awards 2017 announced

  418 entries from 102 hospitals in 17 countries Manila, Philippines, 9 August 2017 – Hospital Management Asia (HMA) announced the finalists of the 16thAsian Hospital Management Awards (AHMA). DTI INNOVATES MARKETING MENTORSHIP

Mandaluyong – At the sidelines of the opening of Sikat Pinoy National Trade Fair on 6 December 2017, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Markprof Foundation headed by Mr. Josiah Go to create marketing tutorial videos for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). “We are bringing marketing seminars of the experts in the field of marketing and branding closer to our MSMEs. The videos will be accessible and available in all Negosyo Centers in municipalities and provinces nationwide,” said Sec. Lopez. The 22 marketing videos to be produced by Markprof Foundation will be distributed to all 716 Negosyo Centers in the country. The videos will contain different principles as well as strategies in marketing and brand-building to help local MSMEs overcome challenges and grow their respective businesses. The trade chief also shared that online mentoring will be available soon to make learning and mentoring more accessible to all MSMEs anytime and anywhere. DTI, the government agency champion promoting MSMEs, takes a holistic and strategic approach in supporting the sector through its 7Ms strategy (Mindset change, Mastery, Mentoring, Money, Machine, Market access, and Models of business). ICTO, BIPC, BICTC hold Freelance Workshop

With reports from Leah Marchil The DOST ICT Office in coordination with the Provincial Government of Bohol through the Bohol Investment and Promotion Center and the Bohol ICT Council held a Rural Impact Sourcing Forum for IT and Business and Accounting students from UB, BISU, Cristal E, STI, Mater Dei College, BIT, as well as students from DCPNHS, BWS, and TCSHS. The forum presented opportunities for livelihood and employment through freelance work on the Internet. Speakers of the forum included DOST ICTO Deputy Executive Director for eInnovation Monchito Ibrahim, Team Lead Jielyn Joy Jocson, Upwork Philippines representative Olivia Briones and Online Jobs University Founder and CEO Genesis Reonico. Testimonies were also presented from those in the Impact Sourcing Industry. Alwyn Rosal (web services), Joseph Ingking (Graphics Design), Nelson Buena (Social Media Marketing), and Gemela Castro (Teaching) shared advantages of freelance work on the Internet. Aquino declares July 2 as a special (non-working) day in Tagbilaran City

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, June 28 (PIA)–President Benigno S. Aquino III has declared July 2, which falls on a Monday, as a special (non-working) day in Tagbilaran City in the province of Bohol in celebration of its 46th Charter Day. The Chief Executive issued the declaration through Proclamation No. 417 signed by Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa Jr. on June 27, to give the people of Tagbilaran City the full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies. The city marks the commemoration of its Charter Day on July 1, which falls on a Sunday. President Aquino granted the request of the Eleventh Sangguniang Panlungsod to declare July 2 as a special (non-working) day instead of July 1 in the city. Auza.Net Opens Business Services Center

On June 23, 2012, Auza.Net formally opened its business services center located at Rm 1, K of C Building, K of C Drive, Tagbilaran City.  The center offers digital printing, color photocopy, international fax, online marketing, on-the-job training, Linux training and many more. Bohol ICT Council Attends Regional MSME Conference

The Bohol ICT Council represented by Chairperson Ms. Leah T. Magno and vice chair Engr. Jerome Auza, attended the Regional Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Conference on June 19, 2012 at the City Sports Club Cebu, Cebu Business Park, Cebu City.  The conference was organized by the Private Sector Promotion (SMEDSEP) Program of  the Department of Trade and Industry – Region VII (DTI-7) and the German International Cooperation (GIZ) and the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI). Together with Magno and Auza are Ms. Marietta Gasatan, President of the Bohol Chamber of Commerce, Atty. TechTalk: IT Enthusiasts Organizes First Meetup in Bohol

Information technology (IT) enthusiasts organized its first meetup in Bohol at the Auza.Net Training Center at the K of C Recreation Center on June 9, 2012. The meetup was attended by a mix of entrepreneurs, professionals, hobbyists and students and a representative of TechTalks.ph – Cebu. The group introduced themselves and talked about their experiences in IT in Bohol and also discussed potential opportunities. The meetup was organized by Ben Skelton, a British entrepreneur who has a setup shop in Baclayon, Bohol and Jerome Auza of Auza.Net in coordination with Ms. Tina Amper of TechTalks.ph. Ms. Amper is currently based in California and provided the help through online methods. Ppip Cimafranca, a member of TechTalks.ph – Cebu travelled to Tagbilaran to attend the meetup and share his insights and experience with TechTalks.ph – Cebu. The students expressed their interest to learn relevant matters on the IT industry that might help them in future work or ventures. Incidentally, this weekly column on the Bohol Chronicle has a tag line of “TechTalk”.
