Economic Partnership with China firms up with arrival of ASEAN China Center (ACC) delegates

Manila, Phl – 23 May 2017 – 16 Delegates from ASEAN China Center (ACC) arrived for a two-day briefing on trade and investment expected to bolster cooperation between the two countries. Led by the Department of Trade and Industry, officials from the Export Marketing Bureau (EMB), Board of Investments (BOI), and Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) organized a Business Matching and Networking Dinner at the South Ballroom, Diamond Hotel to enable an environment where Philippine and Chinese companies can do business together. Philippines-Japan partner up to develop construction skills of foreign human resources in Japan

The Construction Manpower Development Foundation (CMDF) in partnership with the Ministry of Land Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) of the Government of Japan, and the Foundation for International Transfer of Skills in Construction (FITS, Japan) conducted a seminar on ‘Measures to develop construction skills of Foreign Human Resources in Japan’ last March 16, 2017 at the Dusit Thani Manila. The seminar’s main objective is to explore measures to advance the human resource development of Filipino construction skilled workers trained in Japan. Mr. Keita Ohtsu, Subsection Chief, Construction Market Division, Land Economy and Construction Industries Bureau of MLIT gave a talk on frameworks and recent measures used in Japan. The present Technical Intern Training System allows for foreign trainees from developing nations to stay in Japan for a maximum period of 3 years to acquire skills through OJT. There is also the Foreign Construction Workers Acceptance Program which allows skilled workers in Japan to address temporary construction demands like the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. Mr. Shunjiro Furuhama (Matsuzawa Kawaraten Co., Ltd) discussed the necessity of human resource development to conduct step-up training for trainees with acquired technology and skills to actively participate in the development of the construction industry within their home countries. The Skills Education and Training Program System allows for contents of curriculum, accomplishment levels, and employed materials to be systemized and stored digitally for efficiency. The system helps trainees understand contents and schedule of curriculum to be more cost conscious. DTI spotlights Central Visayas MSMEs at OTOP Premium Product Showcase

  The Department of Trade and Industry will demonstrate the massive potential of the grassroots level in Region 7’s food and non-food industries with the mounting of the One Town One Product (OTOP) Premium Product Showcase at the Paseo Solana, Ayala Center Cebu on November 17 – 19.   DTI Central Visayas Regional Director Asteria Caberte said the event will feature products of local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Central Visayas that have undergone product development workshops conducted by the department under the OTOP Program.   Caberte added that MSMEs participating in the OTOP Premium Products Showcase will also supply products for the Go Lokal stores, Tindahang Pinoy, trade fairs and other market access platforms used by the DTI.   The DTI official explains that the current OTOP Program is a leveling up process that focuses on new variations, better products that have significant improvement in the areas of quality, design, standards, compliance, marketability and production quality.   Around 100 MSMEs in Central Visayas took part in the recent OTOP Next Gen Screening, Assessment and Triage (SAT) sessions in Cebu City  where experts from the Design Center of the Philippines and from the private sector evaluated potential OTOP products.   The One Town, One Product (OTOP) Philippines is a priority stimulus program for Micro and Small and Medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs) as government’s customized intervention to drive inclusive local economic growth. “Special recruitment” for abroad at BEPO

BOHOL JOB seekers and those from nearby provinces may now try their luck as Bohol Employment and Placement Office (BEPO) coordinates special recruitment activities for workers willing to try their luck abroad. Needed by various agencies in their weeklong recruitment activities from February 18 to 25 at the BEPO Office of the Capitol are factory workers, domestic helpers, medical staff, nurses, skilled workers all for Taiwan, Hongkong, United States of America, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and Dubai of the United Arab Emirates. BEPO has been institutionalized to assist Boholanos seeking work opportunities abroad by coursing these facilitation through the correct government channels thereby cutting on red tape and streamlining the process to make the paper trail as transparent, BEPO sources briefly describe their tasks. To fully extend their mandates, BEPO also facilitated job fairs and one-stop shop services by allied government services to make sure workers can get their important documents on the same place at the fair venue.
