Red tide alert, giisa na usab sa BFAR

TAGBILARAN CITY, November 21 (PIA)–Giisa na usab sa Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources 7 (BFAR-7) niadtong Sabado ang red tide alert sa kabaybayonan sa lungsod sa Dauis ug syudad sa Tagbilaran. Philippines-Japan partner up to develop construction skills of foreign human resources in Japan

The Construction Manpower Development Foundation (CMDF) in partnership with the Ministry of Land Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) of the Government of Japan, and the Foundation for International Transfer of Skills in Construction (FITS, Japan) conducted a seminar on ‘Measures to develop construction skills of Foreign Human Resources in Japan’ last March 16, 2017 at the Dusit Thani Manila. The seminar’s main objective is to explore measures to advance the human resource development of Filipino construction skilled workers trained in Japan. Mr. Keita Ohtsu, Subsection Chief, Construction Market Division, Land Economy and Construction Industries Bureau of MLIT gave a talk on frameworks and recent measures used in Japan. The present Technical Intern Training System allows for foreign trainees from developing nations to stay in Japan for a maximum period of 3 years to acquire skills through OJT. There is also the Foreign Construction Workers Acceptance Program which allows skilled workers in Japan to address temporary construction demands like the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. Mr. Shunjiro Furuhama (Matsuzawa Kawaraten Co., Ltd) discussed the necessity of human resource development to conduct step-up training for trainees with acquired technology and skills to actively participate in the development of the construction industry within their home countries. The Skills Education and Training Program System allows for contents of curriculum, accomplishment levels, and employed materials to be systemized and stored digitally for efficiency. The system helps trainees understand contents and schedule of curriculum to be more cost conscious. DTI says baskets can be “Shelter in rough times”

Department of Trade & Industry Regional Director Asteria Caberte says that baskets and handicrafts in Bohol prove to be one brilliant industry to rely on in this time of global crisis. Bohol pilots TB control in kids

BOHOL again paves the way for other LGUs in the implementation of the tuberculosis (TB) control in kids. The accolade would be one for the record, besides the Provincial Council Against Tuberculosis (PROCAT) feat in Bohol – the first council of such kind at least nationwide. For council members, the development were greeted with elation. Children have been named as the most vulnerable group to TB. PROCAT chair, Dr Cesar Tomas Lopez agreed and welcomes the piloting move knowing the prevalence of TB and that efforts must be made to protect these children. Upon the issuance Of a Department of Health (DOH) guidelines in implementing TB control in children in 2004, Advanced Implementation Sites (AIS) were selected in Bohol. Identified AIS were towns of Panglao, Tagbilaran City and Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital. Guv names March-April dog registration months

GOVERNOR Erico Aumentado signed an executive order naming March and April as dog registration and vaccination months in Bohol as a renewed strategy to fight and eradicate rabies in the province. Citing Republic Act 9482 and Provincial Ordinance 2007-012, the governor said it is but necessary to formulate internal rules to strengthen the implementation of the Bohol Rabies Prevention and Eradication Program (BPREP). The ordinance penalizes pet owners for non-registration and vaccination of dogs, their refusal to have his biting dog put under observation and his refusal to help victims with their concurred treatment expenses. Rabies is a kind of viral infection caused by Lyssavirus and could be contracted by bites from rabid animals, or the virus entering lesions. When bitten, a person has to immediately wash the wound in soap and water within 10 minutes from biting, apply alcohol or disinfectants directly to the wound. Anticipating airport traffic : DPWH starts P86M road works for airport access

The government starts the P86M road works leading to the tourist island and its airport. The project is being supervised by the regional office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). “The projects are set to approximate the timetable for the airport operationalization, pending the ironing of wrinkles in the right of way acquisition for the multi-billion air facility,” explains Engr. Edgar Damalerio of Bohol’s first engineering district. “It would be a disaster is for tourists and locals wanting to catch a plane but couldn’t squeeze through traffic due to narrow roads and so they miss the flight,” points one construction worker who is now in the frenzy of the construction on sections from. “The land bridge that connects the island to mainland Bohol must be fortified, widened and paved right so it could carry the main bulk as traffic shifts to the proposed airport” added an engineer who supervises for the in the 900 meter road widening and bridges construction works. According to DPWH –7 Engr. Rene Ye, the government is putting up some P86M for the construction and repair of the Jacinto Borja Bridge & Vano Bridge in Poblacion Dauis as well as the widening of the causeway sections leading to Dauis. Yap gives P6M for Bilar Irrigation improvement

Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap breaks ground for the P6M improvement of the Bilar Agricultural College Communal Irrigation System. This was aimed to drastically increase rice harvests while stressing the need for government to spur jobs in the countryside. For the project, it will maximize 40 hectares of irrigated rice lands by generating 5 more hectares and rehabilitating the 35 hectares of prime beds, states Engr. Olympio Galagala Jr., Bohol irrigation officer. Using the excess water of Bilar’s Yectin River, the irrigation system improvement is also expected to benefit residents who would be provided river bank protection, upgrade harvests and help 186 farmer beneficiaries of the Zamros Irrigators’ Association, according to the project profile.
