DTI LAUNCHES KMME BATCH 3 IN TALIBON TOWN
The Department of Trade and Industry in Bohol launches the Kapatid Mentor Micro Entrepreneurs (KMME) program on September 7, 2018 in Talibon, Bohol. KMME is an initiative of DTI and the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE) which aims to help the country’s micro and small enterprises (MSEs) through a ten-module coaching and mentoring series where well-known industry experts teach micro and small enterprises the different aspects of business operations. In her opening message, RD Caberte said that this is the third batch for the province and is the first out-of-town rollout, since the first two batches were held in Tagbilaran City. “This is an opportunity for those in the second district of Bohol to gain access to expert advice and inputs from various mentors across the country, especially with the full support of Congressman Aris Aumentado, who is so optimistic about bringing the KMME program closer to his district,” Caberte said. Present during the launching are PCE Visayas Coordinator Virgilio “Noy” Espeleta, PCE Programs Development Associate Mark Eugene Eudela, DTI Bohol OIC Provincial Director Maria Soledad L. Employment authorities organizing the Jobs Fair August 24 scored 19.07% placement and hiring rate for the day-long jobs matching activity held at the Bohol Cultural Center. According to a post event report, Bohol Employment Placement Office (BEPO) through its officer in charge Maria Vilma Yorong said, of the 409 individuals who registered to the jobs fair, 78 of them were either hired on the spot or placed. Also, of the 401 registered job applicants, 356 were qualified, BEPOS shared. A total of 7 establishments who participated were seeking for the right worker for their job local vacancies, while 6 establishments joined to fill in the need for workers for overseas posts, she added. The jobs fair, TESDA’s Cua said, opened for construction related skills and information communication and technology as well as tourism establishment related services, TESDA’s Rosemarie Bañol earlier announced at the Kapihan sa PIA. The jobs fair, coincided with the Technical-Vocational Week, which Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) took the lead role in commemorating, according to Marichu Cua, TESDA information officer. That same activity generated 1863 job vacancies where 477 were for local placement while 1,386 job vacancies were for overseas placement. BSP says Basic Deposit Accounts, need no IDs
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, August 25 (PIA)—A study cited by the national community managed savings and credit associations bared that only very few Filipinos own savings accounts due to the inability of some to present proper identifications top vouch for the depositor. The same study cited the fact that most people who opts to start a small savings find the documentary requirements in opening an account hard to come by. Conscious of this, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), through a recent Monetary Board resolution, has instructed its supervised banks all over the country to follow a simplified Know Your Customer (KYC) instead of the hard to come by identification documents. By KYC, instead of forcing depositors to produce IDs, identifying the customer and verifying their true identity can now be based on any document or information reduced in writing, including but not limited to certifications, BSP Information Officer Hazel Cultura bared. Through Circular 992, series of 2018, BSP through its governor Nestor A. Espenilla Jr., has officially increased access of the country’s unserved and underserved to financial services that also improves financial inclusivity to the poor and the small entrepreneurs, she added. “There is a need to balance in the capacity of Bohol as a destination vis-a-vis the capabilities of its people and the use of social media in more productive endeavors for the tourism industry.” Governor Edgar Chatto said before tourism and hospitality students during the Netizen’s Convention. According to Gov. Chatto, part of current initiatives for tourism are three major directives on the regulatory role of the tourism office, events management, and the involvement of MICE in upcoming big events for Bohol. Among them is the launching of Digital Bohol in October, the holding of World Economic Forum – Open Collaboration with East Asia New Champions 2016 in November and the ASEAN 2017 meetings in April of next year. In its development agenda, tourism is an industry for growth and development in Bohol along with agriculture and complementing these is ICT. In Congress, Chatto authored the Tourism Act of 2009 with Sen. Dick Gordon, which whole concept of tourism includes marketing, incentives, structures, security, tourism, and, public private partnership.
