DTI joins HIMS trade and investment roadshow in the USA

  Houston, Texas – The 2018 Philippines Healthcare Information Management Services (HIMS) Trade and Investment Roadshow to the USA with the theme “Unlocking Opportunities. Embracing Innovation” held a business forum and outreach in Houston, Texas from 1-2 March 2018.   Texas Honorary Consul General Ethel Mercado welcomed the Philippine delegation headed by DTI Undersecretary for Trade and Investments Promotion Group Nora Terrado and composed of officials from the Department of Trade and Industry, Philippine Board of Investments (BOI) and Export Management Bureau (EMB), Philippine business process management (BPM) industry leaders and representatives from 13 companies providing IT and HIMS-BPM services.   Attended by healthcare professionals and business owners ranging from small to large healthcare facilities and institutions, the business forum held at the Texas Medical Center (TMC) 3rd Coast Restaurant highlighted the Philippines’ strong economic growth that translates to more enhanced partnership opportunities between the Philippines and the Houston healthcare industry.   The delegation served as ambassadors in promoting the sector’s strengths, advantages and capabilities. IFEX Philippines 2018 makes waves with exciting seafood edition

 Global buyers are up for an exciting showcase of the Philippines’ premier seafood and other food segments in the International Food Exhibition (IFEX) Philippines, the country’s biggest export-oriented food show, on May 25-27 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila, Pasay City. Organized by the Department of Trade and Industry‐Center for Trade Expositions and Mission (DTI‐CITEM), IFEX Philippines 2018 will stage its first special edition featuring “The Best of the Seas,” focusing on the fast-growing seafood market in the Philippine regions and other Asian countries. “Now an annual event, IFEX Philippines continues to be the largest and widely anticipated food trade event in the country,” said Nora K. Iriga Targets 5 thousand new ICT Jobs

The Iriga Rinconada ICT Council is set to pursue strategies to generate at least 5,000 jobs enabled by information and communications technology (ICT) in Iriga City, Camarines Sur, by 2022. During a capabilities development conference held in Naga City Friday, July 29, members of the Iriga Rinconada ICT Council led by Iriga City Mayor Madelaine Alfelor identified specific steps to create more awareness on ICT in their area, engage all stakeholders, especially the academe and business sectors, to develop Iriga’s ecosystem for ICT-enabled jobs. The lady mayor called on the members of the ICT council to unite and help the city generate more jobs as national real estate developers like SM and Ayala turn their sights on Iriga. This is in response to the overall challenge of the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP), the national network of ICT councils, to reach the 1 million mark in ICT jobs under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte. In special briefing to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Rodolfo Salalima, NICP officers led by Wilfredo Sa-a, Jr. of the Cebu Educational Foundation for Information Technology (CEDFIT), NICP committed to push for an additional 600,000 jobs in the next years to add yo the existing 400,000 jobs now found outside of Metro Manila. Mr. June Lopena wins the Mr. Sandugo 2015 Muscle Showdown held on July 18, 2015 at the Island City Mall activity center. Lopena represented Bakbons Gym and showed the best form among eleven other contestants. The showdown was organized by the K of C Recreation and Fitness Gym headed by gym instructor Lloyd Vergara and was presented by Roy and Maita Thomas, Friends from Hawaii and Hon. Jose Antonio S. DTI Holds Green Business Matching Event

DTI-Bohol spearheads the conduct of a Green Business Matching event on July 23, 2015 at the Island City Mall Activity Center from 1 to 5 in the afternoon. The aim of this activity is to familiarize businesses and consumers in Bohol on energy efficient and renewable energy technologies, including -where available- attractive financial schemes to avail of these technologies to promote the introduction of more energy efficient measures. This activity is part of DTIs weeklong events to launch the Bohol Ideas to Innovation [BHL i2i] Challenge. The first part of the event will introduce different suppliers presenting their green products and services to the participants by way of product presentation or sales pitch. These sales pitches will be followed by a market setup at the trade fair grounds, with a table and chairs where the green service and technology providers can provide further product details and negotiate.
