President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo ordered all agencies to report to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) all the jobs that will be created pursuant to Executive Order 782. EO 782 calls on all government agencies to contribute to job security of workers to prevent the deepening of the crisis and to quicken recovery.
Through the Executive Order, President Arroyo directed concerned agencies and instrumentalities of the government to allocate one and a half percent (1.5%) of their budget for operating expenses for temporary hiring of qualified DOLE registered displaced workers and their dependents.
The awarding of appointments and contracts for the jobs that will be created will be done during the 111th celebration of Philippine Independence Day. (PIA)
