Small drugstores in Central Visayas found reluctant to comply with Cheaper Medicines Act

Small drugstores in Region 7 are still reluctant to comply with the Cheaper Medicines Act. Only 401 out of 1,277 small and medium-sized drugstores have complied with the implementation of the CMA.

Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD-7) Head Monina Coyoca said that those who have not complied do not necessarily mean they refused to heed the government’s order but that they are still in the process of doing their inventory and making the necessary adjustments before slashing prices of identified drugs.

The BFAD-7 official however warned that non-compliance to the law after the deadline will face stiff penalties such as payment of fines and revocation of their license. (PIA/FCR)
