Stop the display of tarsiers for commercial means – Capitol

The Provincial Government has said to stop the display of tarsiers for commercial purposes. In a session on Dec. 2, 2008, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan have united to thrust the Resolution No. 002-2008 addressing the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to stop the issuance of Wildlife Farm Permits that allows the display of tarsiers for business purposes.

The legislative measures met up with the calls to stop the neglect of tarsiers since they are one of the mascots of the tourism industry in the nation.

At the session, Hotelier Anos Fonacier from the Philippine Tarsier Foundation Inc. faced the lawmakers and urge them with the resolution. He adds that the center for tarsiers are useless if the tarsiers are displayed in places where tourists flock. The foundation executive continues that if the unknown issuance of the aforementioned permits will continue, he center will stop with its operation.
