THE Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) 7 through its Protected Area, Wildlife, Coastal Zone and Management Services (PAWCZMS) is set to hold its 1st Central Visayas Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) Summit on July 10-12, 2013 at the Bohol Plaza Resort and Restaurant in Panglao Island, Bohol.
Around 121 representatives from the private sector, non-government organizations, other government agencies and the local government units are expected to participate in this two-day activity.
With the theme, “PA Management Innovations: Towards Sustainable Biodiversity Conservation in Harmony with the Needs of the Host Communities”, the activity aims to discuss status and direction of PA management in the region, present innovative protected area management interventions for the enhancement of biodiversity conservation, and showcase ecotourism potentials of PAs that benefits different communities in the region.
“Central Visayas is home to 24 protected areas and this activity will certainly highlight the significance of these protected areas not only in biodiversity conservation but its worth to the economical and cultural values of the Visayan people,” said DENR 7 Regional Executive Director Dr. Isabelito R. Montejo.
The summit, jointly organized by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI), Foundation for the Philippine Environment (FPE), Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), and the Cebu Uniting for Sustainable Water (CUSW), will also focus on the status of current PAs and its new directions and development given its changing and dynamic environment.
“Our PAs must be preserved, conserved, and developed that would benefit fully the host communities and other stakeholders while we maximize the use of the necessary tools or technologies to improve its preservation efforts,” Montejo added.
Meanwhile, Montejo, RAFI Executive Director Evelyn Castro, DENR Undersecretary for Staff Bureaus Atty. Ernesto Adobo, Jr. and Governor Edgar Chatto are expected to deliver their respective messages.
Also, activities during the summit include enterprise development tour, lessons from technically-assisted special projects, success stories, applied practices and series of workshops to address the identified gaps especially in protected area management. (DENR)

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, May 22 (PIA)–Gilusad sa Department of Education (DepEd) niadtong Lunes, Mayo 20 ang 2013 National Schools Maintenance Week o Brigada Eskwela sa syudad sa Tagbilaran pinaagi sa motorcade.
Ang maong motorcade naggikan sa buhatan sa DepEd City Division nga ni-agi sa Mansasa, Dampas, paingon sa Island City Mall, niagi sa dalan J.A. Clarin, niliko sa City Central School ug natapos sa Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School (DCPNHS).
Sa paghidangat sa DCPNHS, gisugdan dayon ang Kick-off Program nga gisalmotan sa mga magtutudlo ug mga opisyal sa mga tunghaan sa syudad, mga tinugyanan sa DepEd-Bohol ug City Division ug sa pribadong sector.
Ang maong kalihokan gibuksan usab sa nagkalain-laing tunghaan sa tibuok nasud.
Gitakda sa Mayo 20 hangtud 25, ang Brigada Eskwela ning tuiga nga naa na sa ika-10 ka tuig, nagdala sa tema nga “Isang Dekada ng Bayanihan sa Paaralan.”
Kining maong kalihokan nagsugod niadtong 2003 diin mag-uban ang mga magtutudlo, prinsipal, mga ginikanan, mga kabataan ug apil na ang tibuok komunidad aron manglimpyo ug i-andam ang mga tunghaan sa pagbukas sa klase sa Hunyo.

Ang “Saulog Tagbilaran,” usa ka religion-based cultural nga kalihokan nga magpakita sa kinabuhi ni Senyor San Jose, ang patron sa syudad sa Tagbilaran isip mahigugmaong amahan ug debotong mamumuo agig pagpakita sa mga deboto sa ilang pangayupo ug pasalamat ngadto sa patron.
Ang mga mosalmot sa maong street dancing competition mag-abot sa alas 12 sa udto didto sa daan nga City Hall ug paingon kini sa bag-ong City Hall.
Siyam ka barangay sa syudad ang mosalmot sa maong street dancing nga naglangkob sa Bool, Booy, Cabawan, Cogon, Manga, Mansasa, Poblacion I, Poblacion 2 ug Ubujan.
Ang street dancing magsugod sa ala una sa hapon didto sa daang City Hall nga moliko sa wala nga bahin sa C. Gallares Street, moliko sa B. Inting Street ug moderetso paingon sa CPG Avenue atbang sa City Square. Moliko na usab kini sa J.S. Torralba duol sa Plaza Rizal, moliko sa E. TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, April 29 (PIA)–The City Government of Tagbilaran and the Cathedral Parish of Saint Joseph the Worker has embarked on a collaborative efforts for this year’s celebration of the feast of Saint Joseph the Worker on May 1 dubbed as “Pit Senor San Jose! Viva San Jose! Viva Tagbilaran!”.
Starting last Monday, April 22, a daily novena is being held at 4:30 in the afternoon followed by a holy mass at 5:30 p.m. at the Cathedral.
A nightly activity at 7:30 p.m. at the Tagbilaran Port is now also ongoing. These activities are aimed at reviving, preserving and promoting the city’s significant tradition and unique cultural heritage, in cognizance with Executive Order No. 2 series of 2013 which created the City Council for Culture and the Arts.
Today, April 29, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., the statues of Saint Joseph, Mother Mary and Santo Nino comprising the Holy Family will be featured in a fluvial procession from Manga Port to Sitio Ubos, Poblacion I.
Tomorrow, April 30, the first-ever “Saulog Tagbilaran,” a religion-based cultural activity bringing to the fore the life of Saint Joseph, the City’s patron saint, as a loving father and devoted worker and the local devotees’ way of paying homage and thanksgiving will be launched.
This street dancing intends to drumbeat the 250th anniversary of the Cathedral Parish of Saint Joseph the Worker in 2017.
The 9 contingents are barangays Bool, Booy, Cabawan, Cogon, Manga, Mansasa, Poblacion I, Poblacion 2 and Ubujan. The contingents will assemble along the Old City Hall at 12:00 noon.
The street dancing will kick off at 1:00 p.m., turning left at C. Gallares Street, turning right at B. Inting Street, then proceeding right to CPG Avenue along City Square, turning right at J.S. Torralba near Plaza Rizal, making a left turn at E. Sarmiento fronting the Cathedral, turning left at J. A. Clarin Street leading towards the Tagbilaran City Hall Compound.
