Kaabag ang Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) sa pagmugna sa Career Guidance Advocacy Plan ug Working Group o CGAP-WG ang nagkalain-laing ahensya sa gobyerno sama sa Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) ug Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

Apil sa plano nila ang pagmugna og mga proyektong maghatag og tukma nga trabaho bisan sa mga out of school youth sa nasod.

April crimes decrease 16% as against March

TAGBILARAN CITY, May 24 (PIA)–Crimes in Bohol decreased 16% in April, a staving off of the crimes seen in both index and non index crimes, points out Camp Dagohoy spokesperson Police Superintendent Ricky de Lelis.

Reporting in front of the Provincial Peace and Order Council in a meeting May 23, at the People’s Mansion, de Lelis noted the 112 crimes less in April which had 610 crimes as against the 722 in March this year.

Of the total crime volume however, Camp Dagohoy, showed that 29% of them are actually traffic related incidents.

Homicide for example, Camp Dagohoy said all 6 incidents recorded are traffic related as with 72% of physical injuries as well as unmentioned damage to property due to traffic incidents.

March had considerably more crimes with 459 non index crimes and 263 index crimes as compared to April with 393 non -index and 217 index crimes.

In a comparative chart which Camp Dagohoy prepared to show the disparity in crime tally, de Lelis also showed that of the significant index crimes, only carnapping, which is technically motorcycle napping, saw an increase of 4 cases in April.

The rest show noticeable decreases: theft went down 20 crime cases, robbery at 10 less cases, physical injuries at 11 cases less, murder at 2 less, rape at 6 less and homicide one case lesser.

This would then translate to 46 cases of index crimes recorded in April or some 17% decrease from March, according to de Lelis.

Theft went down from 138 in March to 118 in April, robbery from 42 to 32, physical injuries from 53 to 42, murder from 10 to 8, rape from 13 to 7 and homicide from 1 to zero, de Lelis, who reported for PSSupt Dennis Agustin shared.

And like the previous PPOC police crime reports, Camp Dagohoy statisticians still impress the critical role of non index crimes in police crime solution efficiency.

As to non-index crimes, in March, traffic related incidents reached 189, violation of special laws peaked at 169 and other non index crimes reached 101.

The figures also slackened in April with traffic related incidents reaching 178, violations of special laws at 120 and other non index crimes at 95.

Over all, Bohol still enjoys a 14% decrease in non index crimes or some 61 crime cases less. (rac/PIA7/BOhol)

DepEd readying options for class rooms backlog

TAGBILARAN CITY, May 24 (PIA)–Anticipating the influx of students and the strain of additional school classrooms with the opening of senior high schools across the country, Bohol Division of the Department of Education (DEPED) assures they are undertaking options to accommodate students in the new school year.

The statement came as Governor Edgar Chatto who heads the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) wants to be appraised of potential situation arising from the usual class opening blues: lack of class rooms.

At the PPOC meeting, Chatto asked the DepEd through superintendent Wilfreda Bongalos the status of classroom construction and potential backlogs, this early, or weeks before the public schools officially open June 13.

On this, Superintendent Bongalos reported that classroom construction in Bohol’s District 2 and District 3 are now at 85%, and expects to have these classrooms ready for occupancy by the school opening or a few days later.

But, she said the Division Office has opened up options for the kids.

By options, Bongalos said they are temporarily opening up libraries and spare rooms to accommodate student classes while the rooms are built.

A different scenario however is happening in District 1.

Dr. Bongalos said a bigger backlog is expected in District 1 because the DepED accordingly missed the Mines and Geo Sciences Bureau (MGB) clearance considering that some school sites in the district hit by the 2013 earthquake need MGB green light.

The 2013 earthquake compromised several school sites that buildings and repairs need to be cleared to make sure that money spent for school buildings are not wasted to improper construction without considering the surface condition and integrity and safety of the sites and buildings.

She cited Baclayon and Panggangan High School sites encountering problems.

Two storey buildings designed for the mentioned sites apparently could not be built as digging the buildings’ foundations would be tough with water 5 meters below the surface noted in these areas, Bongalos said.

On this, DepED said they have already submitted redesigns of the buildings: single storey instead of the double storeys so the construction could start.

Even then, DepED said students getting to senior high school can have a good choice among Bohol’s 29 public senior high schools and 54 private high schools with senior high school course offerings. (rac/PIA-7/Bohol)
