West End Theater Artists to Perform in Cebu; Peter Pan: A Musical Adventure

POSTER1

Yes, you’ve heard it right! Cebuanos will soon witness a stageplay performed by international artists from the widely-known mainstream theaters of West End, London. This seems too good to be true but this is really it! The performers will set foot in Cebu this June 11 and 12, 2016 at SM Seaside-Centerstage, for a musical portrayal of the story of Peter Pan, entitled “PETER PAN: A MUSICAL ADVENTURE”, directed by the highly-experienced, executive producer-director, writer, marketer with wide exposure to performance events staged in theme-parks, formal theatres, open-air and street– Mr. Paul Hammond. This will be its first Philippine staging. Exciting!

This event is headed by Events International, a production company that has brought international concerts and stageplays across the stages in India, Thailand, Vietnam and some parts of Europe. They have promoted musicals from the US and UK such as “Barefoot in the Park”, “Cats”, “Ain’t Misbehavin”, “Evita” and “Mousetrap”. As the company is still on its ongoing journey in providing entertainment, they decided to mount “Peter Pan” in the Philippines and luckily, Cebu, in particular.

Events International is currently in collaboration with Event Aspects, a local production company that coordinates and manages corporate and artistic events. This event has long been planned and with careful and thorough processing, the collaboration finally laid all the cards on the table. So for all theater enthusiasts, children of all ages and for everyone else who once met Peter, Wendy or Tinkerbell in their dreams, please keep posted for further details.

Well, this might have been such a surprising announcement for many but this is  definitely something to be thrilled about. This is then the right time to believe that one day, or some day, that famous childhood story will come to life and everyone can then fly together to Neverland! Just remember that:

“The moment you doubt whether you can fly, you cease for ever to be able to do it.”
― J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

COUPS

The startling efforts that the Aquino Administration devoted to deny the eventual election of Rodrigo Duterte is embellished with shameless lousiness creditable only to a study body government.

Amateurish, blatant and foolishly trademarked, the demolition charges emblazon the seal of the incompetent, if these were any complement at all.

And it would possibly take an idiot with an oversized degree in illogic not to make the connection every time the hand from the residence beside the river.

Not that the conduct of the automated elections was any question at all.

In fact, the talks about cheating, another student body fixture, vanished with the massive throng of crowd frequenting Duterte’s rallies.

For who would, in the right frame of mind, mess with the the brewing discontent of the crowd that has launched a barrage of fire drawing blood and ire defending their mayor.

So cheating the mayor was courting disaster. And yet, somebody has to be in the house when the cleaning starts or else the skeletons in the closet just tumble out.

Talks of Plan B slithered out because beating the mayor by any as venomous as getting bitten by the scourge of a nation.

So when the counting of votes started and the chosen one started to lag, everyone knew she dragged a luggage as heavy as a band of crocs in a yellow cabbie.

And then, by some eagle eyes tracking the turn-out, something just looks and acts funny.

Beginning at 8:00, the lady with a baggage started to amass a uniform number of votes; 40 thousand for every percent of vote returns to be precise.

Had there been no talks about plan B, we’d have settled for it. But like, the gradual lead narrowed every minute that the only possible explanation was a programmed command.

And when somebody pointed out that the lead would end with around 200 thousand, that was it.

Yesterday, the Commission on Elections admitted somebody messed with the harsh codes. Incidentally, after tweaking with the program, the votes started coming.

When talks of a recount surface today, that is because people want to know. And people have the right to know.

If, by a recount, the issue of cheating which has become a burden of the administration gets settled, what is the problem with that?

Oh, well, there indeed is that first sign that somewhere, a recount would expose a cheat.

Maybe that is why they’d use all their strength to stop a recount and be caught with a slip again.

Because when that happens, Aquino would rather wish a coup de etat did him than a coup de grace like cheating.

Edukasyon.ph, UA&P team up for OFW online school applications

Edtech startup Edukasyon.ph and University of Asia and the Pacific
(UA&P) have joined forces to create an online education information
service to give OFW parents a faster way to know about senior high and
college options available for their kids.

Edukasyon.ph Chief Executive Officer Linartes M. Viloria and
University President Winston Conrad B. Padojinog inked the agreement
on April 26, 2016 at the University of Asia and the Pacific campus in
Ortigas.

“We are very excited and happy to be partners with University of Asia
and the Pacific in providing online application assistance for inbound
college and senior high school students. This is particularly helpful
for our OFW parents who are helping their children decide on their
school options all the way from abroad. This way our OFW parents can
still participate not only in the decision-making but in interacting
with schools for their kids’ education,” said Edukasyon.ph CEO
Linartes Viloria.

Through this partnership, UA&P can accept online applications via
Edukasyon.ph. This year UA&P launches its unique 6-year Integrated
University Program (6YP) which is open to all Grade 10 graduates. 6YP
combines two years of senior high school, three years of undergraduate
program, and the final year for a Master’s degree, all within six
years.

“Parents and students can explore a variety of academic options
through their account on Edukasyon.ph website, which features
information about 6YP, events, admissions, enrollment announcements,
scholarships and qualification requirements”, said Beng
Calma-Alcazaren, U&AP Marketing Director.

The following degrees may be obtained through the 6YP: Master of Arts
in Communications major in Integrated Marketing Communication, Master
of Arts in Humanities, Master of Science in Management, Master of
Science in Industrial Economics, Master of Science in Political
Economy with specialization in International Relations and
Development.

“We want to help our parents participate in their children’s education
regardless of how far they may be. With the signing of the MOA with
UA&P, Edukasyon.ph is bringing the Filipino youth closer to their
dreams. We believe that this partnership is one of the many steps we
have to take in order to provide our students quality information that
can lead to brighter jobs,” Edukasyon.ph Founder Henry Motte-Muñoz
emphasized.

About Edukasyon.ph

Edukasyon.ph was established by French-Filipino Henry Motte-Muñoz in
2013. A graduate of the London School of Economics and Harvard

the Philippines because of the poor sources of information on academic
opportunities in the country and overseas. He is the only Filipino who
made it to the Class of 2015 Asia 21 Young Leaders, a network of young
leaders from across the Asia Pacific, representing the private,
public, and non-profit sectors. Henry is one of 10 Filipinos included
in the Forbes 30 under 30. The list features young entrepreneurs,
innovators, and leaders in Asia across 10 fields.

Bohol CSO’s to launch Climate Change primer On Earth day concert

TAGBILARAN CITY, April 21, (PIA)—Civil society groups aligned with sustainable environment make public a document labor of love which could guide individuals, families, businesses and government on fighting back climate change on International Earth Day, April 22.

The document, now to be called the Primer on Climate Change, is a production of an environment group called Bohol Nature Conservation Society (BONACONSO), and works on the premise that men are all intricately interconnected… to animals, plants, air, water, seas, soil, earth, and the ever-expanding universe.

The primer, which would be launched during a celebration concert by alternative artist and environmental advocate Joey Ayala, calls for building a critical mass of people who would be willing to change to make things better.

“We have to redefine the idea of progress as environmental degradation is intimately connected to human degradation,” the primer’s prologue states.

Also on that day, BONACONSO is proud to initiate the events which are aid to be the first time when Earth Day celebration is being spearheaded, not by the usual government, but the private sector comprising civil society organizations (CSO).

Picking up Halad Pasalamat para sa Kalikopan (thanksgiving offering for the environment) as theme, BONACONSO, through president Pat Ruiz said while usual earth day events include shutting down of power plants for hours, Bohol is having its own line-up of events.

First event of the day, April 22, is a 5:30 Tai chi at the Key of C Promenade, which would be participated by environment advocates, health and lifestyle conscious individuals and interested public as well.

Often described as meditation in motion, tai chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements.

Tai chi is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing.

Tai chi, also called tai chi chuan, is a noncompetitive, self-paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion.

We need to get back the feel of the earth’s balance, regain the lost energies and be one with the environment, suggests a 60 plus member of BONACONSO, Flora Loquellano.

At 6:00, to give a statement of support to renewable energies and shunning from fossil fuels, Earth Day organizers bring in races for paddleboats for entertainment.

Sea gypsy paddlers, dragon boats and amateur paddlers take to the sea in a celebration of the water as among the key life elements, Loquellano added.

While the crowd breaks for the day, an environment concert with alternative artist and nationalist Joey Ayala unfolds at the K of C Drive, and BONACONSO has also prepared numbers, Ruiz said.

It would be a night of memories, we will be offering healing and thanksgiving rituals as Joey Ayala performs environmental advocacy numbers, Ruiz said. (rac/PIA-7/Bohol)
