Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz reminded private sector employers to do their patriotic duty by observing proper pay rules on 12 June, Independence Day.
Baldoz said 12 June, when Filipinos mark the country’s Independence Day, is a regular holiday. She added that President Benigno S. Aquino III, in Proclamation 831 dated 17 July 2014, declared Independence Day as a regular holiday.
“Proper observance of all holiday pay rules strengthens decent work and builds productivity. Voluntary labor standards compliance redounds to social protection and the competitiveness of business and industry,” she added.
For June 12, the following pay rules will apply:
- If the employee did not work, he or she shall be paid 100 percent of his or her salary for that day.
- If the employee worked, he or she shall be paid 200 percent of his/her regular salary for that day for the first eight hours. For work done in excess of eight hours (overtime work), the employee shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his or her hourly rate.
- If 12 June is the employee’s rest day and he or she still reported for work, he or she shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his or her daily rate of 200 percent.
- If the employee worked more than eight hours on his or her rest day on 12 June, he or she shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his or her hourly rate on the day.
Baldoz urged private sector employers to “observe voluntary compliance with labor standards, particularly with payment of correct wages/salaries of employees who will report for work on Independence Day.” (DOLE/PIA)

MANILA, June 09 (PIA)–Nanawagan ang Commission on Elecions (Comelec) sa publiko nga dili himuong basehan ang mga political advertisement sa pagpili sa mga ibotar sa nasudnong piniliay sa umaabot Mayo 2016.
Pebrero sa sunod tuig pa ang pormal nga pagsugod sa campaign period apan karon pa lang, nagkadaghan na ang mga political advertisement sa telebisyon.
Gipahayag sa Comelec nga dili pa kini makonsiderar nga premature campaigning mao usab nga dili mahimong i-reklamo ang mga politikong nagpaluyo niini.
Matud pa sa tigpamaba sa Comelec nga si Dir. James Jimenez, makonsiderar lamang nga premature campaigning kun ang usa ka kandidato nakaduso na sa iyang certificate of candidacy (COC) ug kun nangampanya kini bisan wala pa ang campaign period.
Sa Oktubre pa gitakda sa Comelec ang pagduso sa COC alang sa mga modagan sa 2016 elections.
Alang sa Comelec, bisan walay balaod nga nagdili sa sayong pagpangampanya, wala pa gihapon kini nahisubay sa aspketong moral ug ethical.
Pasabot pa ni Jimenez, dili patas ang ingon niining aksiyon sa mga politikong walay katakos sa paghimo sa ilang kaugalingong political advertisement nga gikonsiderar nga mahal.
“Engaging in premature campaigning unbalances the playing field,” matud pa ni Jimenez.

MANILA, June 09 (PIA)–Epektibong programa sa gobyerno ang hinungdan sa pagkunhod sa gidaghanon sa mga out-of-school youth sa Pilipinas.
Kini matud pa sa taho nga gipagawas sa Philippine Institute for Development Studies ug United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) kalabot sa ilang pagtuon sa kahimtang sa mga Out-of-School Children sa Pilipinas.
Base sa taho, mikunhod ang proportion sa out-of-school youth sa kinatibuk-ang gidaghanon sa mga batang Pilipino tungod sa mga inisyatiba sa pipila ka ahensya sa gobyerno.
Gikan sa 11.7 porsiyento niadtong 2008, mikunhod kini sa 5.21 porsiyento sa tuig 2012.

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) will be conducting the 2nd Career Service Professional and Sub-Professional written examinations for this year on October 18.
Application period will run from May 25 to September 3.
Last May 3, more than 180,000 took the Career Service Examination Paper-and-Pencil Test.
Passing the CSE is one of the basic requirements in applying for a position in government. The CSE ensures that only competent and credible workers enter the public service.
The examinations are open to individuals, regardless of educational attainment, who are Filipino citizens including those holding dual citizenship, at least 18 years old at the time of filing of application, and have not taken the same level of examination within three months before the date of examination.
Applications should be filed in person at the CSC Regional Office (CSCRO), or at any of the concerned CSCRO’s Field Offices, where the applicant intends to take the examination. The CSC, though, has warned that acceptance of applications may be closed at any time before Sept. 3, 2015 once the CSC Regional/Field Office has reached the target number of applicants. Examination fee for both levels of CSE-PPT is P500.
