DSWD, now ISO-certified
The regulatory services of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) recently received its certification from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
The DSWD’s ISO 9001-2008 certification covers the five regulatory services of Standards Bureau namely: Registration of Auxiliary Social Welfare and Development Agencies, Registration and Licensing of Social Welfare Agencies (SWAs), Accreditation of SWAs’ Programs and Services, Endorsement of Duty-Free Entry, and National Authority to Conduct Fund Drives.
The Standards Bureau is responsible for fulfilling the regulatory and quality assurance roles of the Department.
ISO 9001:2008 sets out the criteria for a quality management system. It can be used by any organization, large or small, regardless of its field of activity. ISO 9001:2008 is implemented by over one million companies and organizations in over 170 countries.
This standard is based on a number of quality management principles including a strong customer focus, the motivation and implication of top management, the process approach and continual improvement.
Using ISO 9001:2008 helps ensure that customers get consistent, good quality products, and services.
The certification is valid for three years – from August 3, 2014 to July 19, 2017.
DSWD Undersecretaries Angelita Y. Gregorio-Medel and Parisya H. Taradji, and Standards Bureau Director Marites M. Maristela received the certification from AJA Registrars, Inc. Vice-President Paul Bagatsing on October 17, 2014 at the DSWD Central Office in Batasan, Quezon City. Other DSWD officials and staff were also present during the awarding ceremony.
“After two rigorous audit stages, we are pleased that DSWD has successfully completed the requirements for certification,” DSWD Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman said.
Sec. Soliman vowed that the DSWD will continue to streamline documentation and processing systems to provide smoother, faster, and more efficient delivery of its frontline services. (DSWD)

Rapid response team sa DoH, gimugna batok sa Ebola
MANILA, Nov. 03 (PIA)–Gimugna na ang grupo sa mga doktor ug health workers nga Rapid
Response Team nga naghulat na aron i-deploy sa mga lagyong mga lugar sa nasud kun makasulod man ang Ebola virus.
Matud pa sa tigpamaba sa Department of Health (DOH) nga si Dr. Lyndon Lee Suy, ang mga miyembro sa rapid response team nipaubos sa pagbansay aron pugngan ang pagkatap sa maong sakit.
Ang 122 ka doktor nga gipaubos sa special training mao usab ang mo-giya sa uban pang health workers sa mga lagyong lugar aron pugngan ang posibleng pagkatap sa Ebola.
Adunay tulo ka rapid response team nga gilangkoban sa duha ka doktor, medical technologist ug nurse nga andam nang ipadala sa mga lalawigang posibleng adunay kaso sa Ebola.

PNoy approves P167.9-B rehabilitation plan for Eastern Visayas
President Benigno S. Aquino III on Wednesday approved the P167.9-billion Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Recovery Plan (CRRP), which shows the government’s commitment to rebuild areas in Eastern Visayas devastated by Typhoon Yolanda last year.
“Upon the recommendation of the Presidential Assistant for Rehabilitation and Recovery and the favorable endorsement of the National Economic Development Authority, the President approved yesterday 29 October 2014 the 8,000-page Yolanda Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Recovery Plan, which outlines the National Government’s commitment to implement over 25,000 rehabilitation and recovery specific plans and programs and activities,” Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma, Jr. said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
Secretary Coloma said the recovery plan and activities are envisioned to bring forth the recovery of the 171 affected cities and municipalities in 14 provinces and six regions, known as the “Yolanda corridor”, based on the “build-back-better” principle.
The recovery plan focuses on long-term and sustainable efforts to reduce vulnerabilities and strengthen the capacities of communities to cope with future hazard events, he added.
The rebuilding efforts require a total amount of P167.9 billion aimed at restoring infrastructure, settlements and basic community facilities, livelihood, and the resilience of vulnerable communities, Coloma said.
The P167.9 billion is broken down into P35.1 billion for infrastructure; P26.4 billion for social services; P75.7 billion for resettlement; and P30.6 billion for livelihood. (PND)
